Good Morning

Or something.
I'm actually rather grumbly and quite bitchy this fair morning. I spent this last week in the company of a stomach bug. He was an evil visitor, eating all my food and leaving a mess everywhere.  For a couple of days I thought I was going to have to go see a doctor, make them check to make sure it wasn't my appendix. I didn't die though, so I'm assuming it wasn't all that bad after all.

Philosophy stuff

Maimonides was an interesting fellow.

The one thing that I absolutely love about the internet is that you can spiral off into orgasms of knowledge on just about any topic you happen to have a whimsy with currently.

This most recent search was kicked off by 5 days of no internet access, which lead me desperately looking for something to occupy my brain with. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your disposition, I turned to the television in search of intelligent life.

I learned quite a few lessons over those 5 days. For example, my preferred TV stations repeat programming. Repeatedly. In ONE day. Yes, they play approximately 6 hours of programming in the afternoon, and then in the evening start over and replay the same programs again. Chances are if you are dissappointed in the program around 3pm, especially if it's a "marathon" of any sort, just block that channel for the rest of the day and don't bother flipping back to see what's on.

Another thing I have learned is that there is no way I can possibly be happy with my current material possessions. There are gadgets and gizmos and programs and things that would probably make my life 100% more rewarding if I'd just send their makers a small down payment to procure their use for 30 days. I could have a clean colon. Then I could refill my body with healthy nourishing juices extracted from living raw plants and lean proteins cooked with laser technology and infra red beams. All of this could be sliced up with knives that have lifetime warranties and are guaranteed to always be sharp. I could disinfect my home with steam so that no creepy crawlies could possibly infect my new pristine godlike body which I have perfectly sculpted with a body shaper that makes me have the figure of a 12 year old boy. Pay no attention to the 14 rolls of fat around my neck, I'll just cover that up with airbrushed makeup. A night's rest on space age technology and surely I'll have to be declared a deity.

Assuming I've properly taken care of my beauty and health, I can then embark on a myriad of ways of improving my wealth! There's real estate to buy for little or no money down. I can take the money I've made from that venture and invest it in tips for making money on the internet with very little effort. I can also learn how to view myself with such love and devotion that people will have no choice to flock to me and throw their money at me. If for any reason these ventures prove unfruitful I simply have to send in my name and address to the government and they will send me free money that I can use to buy things from auctions seized from drug dealers and crime bosses. I really had my eye on that 24 inch wide platinum cross that has 802 diamonds and weighs 99 pounds. I'll build up the muscle to wear it using my ab blasting, butt blasting, bow-flexing super trike bike and stripper-pole that folds up for convenient storage!

I am happy with one thing I managed to watch on tv that was actually useful. Interestingly enough it was a silent movie from 1925 and shown on TCM at 4am. Grass; A Nations Battle for Life was a fascinating ethno-documentary dealing with a nomadic tribe's annual migration. Absolutely fascinating to see such an early documentary of this degree. Being a silent flick you didn't have much self-important director comments to sift through and could just watch the events unfolding for yourself. Once I had my internet connection finally working again, I embarked on a research journey into the film's history, it's makers, and all of that spiraled off into my usual link hopping spree which pretty much ended up finding it's way to the topic of philosophy. I am satisfied with my two days of internet gluttony. It has purged me of the styrofoam the television fed me for most of 5 days. ;)

When I was younger, I was lied to. They said that knowledge and maturity came with age and experience. It's bullshit. The older I get, the more I realize how very little I actually know and maturity must be a codeword for "overripe, leaning towards mushy, likely to go bad soon".

A clean slate

So I went through and bumped every post into private status since the beginning, minus of course the first ever post welcoming myself to xangrala.

It was very interesting to read my own drivel over the years, there was quite a bit of it since 2003. Now perhaps I can start spewing new drivel. ;)

Read a rather good book recently, and for those of you that like sci-fi/fantasy with a good dose of sex perhaps you might like it as well.

The book i read was Palimpsest, and perhaps you might like some of her other works. I think next i'll give her short stories a try and see if I like them as well as the novel. :)

Edit: haha, just noticed this little gem again and it's fitting for today's cleansing:
Hi poesy! It's been 2349 (wow, that's a big number) days since you joined Xanga... won't you support us by going Premium?

Dear Xanga, I was premium for a long time. How could you forget me so easily? ;)
